The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 1 First Time Again Review

                                          Walkers… Walkers and more WALKERS!

The favorite survivor group of the Walkers apocalypse is back and this time none may stand in Rick’s way in transforming the Alexandria community into something more than a weak and an inexperienced community.

The finale of last season left off with Rick shooting Pete Anderson (Corey Brill) for killing Reg Monroe (Steve Coulter) as Reg tried to stop Pete from doing something stupid! Also, Morgan finally meets up with Rick!

Though the deaths were unfortunate, still they were necessary since the plot is slowly & steadily moving towards the clash between the WOLVES and the communities! One of the biggest challenge and feared battle that awaits the whole group!  (**SPOILERS**)

Season 6 first episode titled “First Time Again”, starts in different fashion than the past episodes.

The episode starts with showing us a horde of Walkers, trapped in what seems to be cliff with 4 trucks entrapping them all. For a second, one might think that Rick was off his rocker as he was asking these inexperienced people to do the impossible and somewhat unnecessary. But, just after a few minutes as he kept on prepping his group, one of the trucks went down the cliff as it caved in and then all hell breaks loose as the horde becomes mobile, while a few of the living trying to question Rick’s intentions!

Throughout the episode, it seems we were shown the consequences of the actions taken by almost each of the group members.

In the show we also, see how Glenn deals with Nick. It seems that Nick is now a like pet dog with Glenn as his master. However, Glenn seemed to have only one intention of stopping any more unnecessary deaths.

The director showed us exactly how the story and the relationships like that of Morgan and Rick manifested itself throughout the episode via flashbacks. We also learnt that Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) now fully supports Rick’s plans and decisions. She may have been in charge but, it’s now really starting to look like the turn of events as foretold from the comic book arc. (**SPOILERS**)

To the people she may be the leader but, the one who is really calling the shots now is, Rick! Not saying that he was shown like a manipulative man but, rather someone who really wants to turn the community into a weapon against the dead and the living who intend to harm them. In the episode Rick tells Morgan that he doesn’t take any chances anymore.

“I don’t take chances anymore.”-Rick

“And you shouldn’t!”-Morgan

Morgan after that is shown to be in isolation practicing his awesome martial arts skills as Rick comes to confirm his sanity.

The title of the episode says it all for the Rick-Morgan relationship. Their friendship even in the comics stood the challenges that the insane world had to throw at them! We see a calm and more observant Morgan who helps Rick (who at that moment in time can be portrayed as a little broken), to remember who he really is.

A kind GOOD man.

As Morgan and Rick were out to bury Pete they come across the entrapped Walkers. It is at that point they realized how the community had survived for so long.

Later Rick and Morgan confronts the community and told them about the dire situation. With the support of Deanna, Rick laid out a plan to divert the Walkers for if and when they escape. Some of them didn’t support the plan but, that’s to be expected from an inexperienced bunch. Since Deanna gave it a green light they followed with the plan.

During setting up for the plan Daryl tells Rick that bringing more people would be taking care of ourselves. Just after that these inexperienced bunch met with a REALITY check! Rick told his group and Morgan to stand by as he in my opinion wanted to test the community people; wanted to see what how they would handle them. As expected they got their Asses handed to them!

Morgan just couldn’t stand by inexperienced people suffer so he goes ahead to help, forcing Rick’s hand to come forward and put down the few walkers.

After nearly getting chewed at the one of them Carter (Ethan Embry) met with few others and decided to talk about a revolt by killing Rick. Eugene heard the conversation and as always due to his clumsiness got found out but, luckily for him he made a sound as he got found out. Rick and the gang came in to his rescue and learnt about the revolt conversation and steadily gets his gun and forces him down whilst aiming his own gun against his forehead!

“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?”-Rick

Man, that line really showed who clearly was in charge!

Rick kept a level head throughout that incident and came out a calm leader. During the discussion between Morgan and Rick opens up and tells him that the thought that a man like Carter was gonna die anyway in this insane world stopped him from killing him, even though he really wanted to pull the trigger!

What Rick said really came true when all hell broke loose and the walkers escaped since Carter was the one who died in the episode.

The plan that Rick played out was working perfectly till Carter got bit and started screaming. His screams lured some of the walkers towards himself and off the road. Rick first put down the walker that bit Carter and then at the spur of the moment put down Carter to stop the horde from being distracted.

It was a kink in the plan but, it worked out since the few who got distracted were lured to join up with the rest of the horde by the sound of gunfire.

In the end all was going according to the plan but, then all of sudden a sound of a horn most probably a truck horn roared across the roads and that attracted the horde towards Alexandria!

I my opinion the WOLVES have made their move! The show is about to get a whole lot crazier!

To summarize I would say that the show has gone back to its ROOTs…..

iOS 7 arrives!

On 19th, night I was finally able to get the iOS 7 upgrade and I must say I’m LOVING IT!
There are subtle differences like the removal of the click to tweet or post on FB directly from the notification panel but, there are a lot of improvement as well!

Man O man! Big A really have taken transparency to the next level! Also, the parallax effect of the home screen and the lock screen are a treat!

That’s not all! The messaging app to has become neat as it ever be! Simplicity has a new and beautiful meaning!

A new feature that has been added to the messaging app is the ability to tell when the message was sent.

The next thing that has taken an interesting turn is the music app!

There is one more thing that was introduced with the new music app UI and that was the iTunes Radio ! But, sadly in India that feature is yet to be announced and released!

Next let’s talk about the new and slightly improved notification centre.

Like I’ve mentioned at the very start the subtle difference that has been bothering me is the missing direct, click to tweet and post to FB!
Other than it does a marvellous job as you can see!

Next would be the control centre something that has been there on the android platform for a long time but, now has made it to the iOS !

The control centre has many of the quick functions that reduces hassles and improves functionality

The clock to has a new UI! Plus on the home screen the clock animation can easily been seen!

The next thing is the new and improved Safari!

The new UI makes it a joy to surf the web and read!

The new links section to is simple and easy to use!! Not to mention well organised!

Next have a look at the videos!

Apple has gone and brought the transparency even on the video player!
But, still looks better and does the job!

If you wanna share something the options are as show above!

Game Centre can’t get more colourful than this!

The setting and mail apps are just as shown above!
Small change in the setting is that it has a separate mobile data section!

Did anyone else upgrade, if yes then write it down would love to hear from you guys and gals!

Xperia Z Review

Xperia Z

  • Sony has a history of late upgrades and updates. After a long await Sony after the Xperia T, TX, V, J, etc. which at launch had Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), recently in 2013 are getting their Jelly Bean Updates.
  • Far behind on the list, Sony with their latest and greatest Xperia line-up have caused stir in the android market. Xperia Z/ZL announced at the CES 2013 were the first and latest FULL HD phones of 2013 to be released. Global release was fast with India getting this phone in the month of March whereas some countries got the Z/ZL now.
  • None the less Sony with these phones have definitely gone up on the list. Still to beat Samsung but, hey it’s right next to it now. Sony has shown to the world that its best is capable and is now ready to face the ever growing competition Amongst the Android.
  • The Xperia Z phone was launched in the month of March in India and is available in Black, White and Purple options.
  • The Xperia Z in this review is the C6603 Black Xperia Z.

Though the 1080p display with the BE2 technology is all so good to hear but, in actuality the screen lacks in balancing some of the colours (Primarily the whites and blacks), and the side viewing angles could seriously use some improvements. Other than that it’s a treat to watch movies and play games since only during this that the BE2 kicks in and balances the colours.

Now that that’s over, now for some inside scoop from experience. The Xperia Z has everything that you would expect from a Flagship. A classy good Camera, power house and a full on entertainment house. With the power of Google at its disposal, Sony doesn’t disappoint. Sony, gives away this phone with its own sweet apps such as Walkman, Movies, Album, Sony Select, Car Mode, Scoialife, etc.

In addition to that there are the Sony entertainment services, here in India Sony is offering its Sony LIV and Jive services for free for 6 months of purchase. It’s a perfect combo if you’re a Vodafone user since they too are offering an enticing 3G data plan, 8 GB of data for each of the coming two months of purchase(Well for 2 months of placing that sim into the phone).

Call quality is great on the Xperia Z. Some have complained about the call quality on the Xperia Z but, on mine the other end has really appreciated the quality and clarity of sound received.

Battery life, is okay. You heard it right, I said “Okay”, with such a powerhouse packing so many great features you would expect that the company would place in a great battery to power the beast. But, unfortunately the phone’s battery is just, “sufficient”!

Apps to take note of:

Socialife: Takes all the feed from all the social sites and sources such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. and combine in a well arranged manner to present it on one single app. Helps to keep track of all the updates that matter to you without opening many apps at once.

Walkman: Shakes your world with Clear Audio+ functionality and if you’re not happy with that you always have the option of getting back to changing the audio settings to your desire.

Album: Neatly arranges you’re photographs and places them on various geotagging animations.

MOVIES: Hall of entertainment is what I like to call it. It can play almost all formats of videos and totally has the best way presenting you’re collection that I have ever seen in any smartphone.

Performance can be seen below:

Some of the shots:

Performance wise the Xperia Z doesn’t disappoint, consistent scores in the geekbench application should confirm that for you.

I would like to conclude by simply saying that I give this Smartphone a BIGGGGGG THUMBS UP! If you’re thinking of making it your daily driver than without a doubt buy it, for every bit of penny spent on it, is totally worth the services and the power you get from this phone.

Let there be publicly available telescope!

The Campaign for a nubile telescope.

There have been many applications and books(even interactive ones) that have given us knowledge about our universe, the endless space but, they are unable to show us how it actually looks and feels like.
Now, a campaign that was initiated a while back has successfully accumulated enough pledges for the Planetary Resource company(whose main aim is to dig for resources in asteroids) to build their telescope which will be available publicly.
This would allow the common man to have a little closer look at space atleast beyond any book or any application. From a 5th grader to PhD holder to NASA scientists will be able to reap the benefits of this endeavor.
This will also allow us to look for dangerous asteroids and also for the asteroids that can be used as resource satellite. Another use is the chance of finding alien worlds.
     A step closer to space.

Siri, pays attention to the little things that matter!

Siri, may not be on par with Google now at present but, it makes up in the little things that may seem trivial but, are really needed for a good and sound life.

Latest news in the siri front show that siri can link up to the National Suicide Prevention lifeline. Siri, could previously fund the sites offering counselling but, now everything is a call away.
Makes life easy!

WWDC 2013 keynote roundup!

WWDC 2013, REALLY kicked of with some boring intro but, as it slowly progressed it became a mesmerising!

WWDC 2013 gave us a literally new iOS for the iPhone namely the iOS 7……

The iOS 7 Will be available of iPhone 4 and above, iPad 2 and above (includes mini) and 5th gen iPods touches.

Though iOS was certainly the major announcement that everyone was looking forward too, Apple didn’t disappoint its pro users…..

Yes, a fully revamped new MAC PRO.
A machine which truly can’t be judged by its look. Go through the specs on the Apple website and you’ll be amazed by the shear power depicted by the spec sheet.

The above too were the top announcements of the keynote, of which iOS was even said to had an standing ovation by the crowd that went there.

The other major but, slightly something of the sidelines according to me was the new MAX OS X Mavericks…..

Also, the new and improved MacBook Airs took the stage as well. With the new 4th gen Intel processors, their battery loves have been seriously increased.

All the above upgrades and hardware are said to reach the common man this fall. Though Airs, will ship today itself.
That was all folks a total wrap up of the announcements of this year’s WWDC.
